The chief of a northern Dene band says he would like to receive more consultation over industrial projects taking place in his region.
Fond du Lac Chief Victor Fern says trappers in his band and other residents have noticed a number of signs and fences going up in their traditional hunting areas without their knowledge.
Fern told delegates at yesterday’s Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations’ legislative assembly that he wants more consultation from mining groups.
Fern’s comments were noted by a vice-chief with the FSIN, who said they had already been made aware of that issue.
