The president of a Metis local in Prince Albert says she hopes Clem Chartier has more success at the national level than he did at the provincial one.

Darlene McKay says Metis members in Saskatchewan deserve the full recognition of the Metis National Council president. While the newly sworn-in Chartier is internationally recognized as a competent diplomat – she says not much has happened for Saskatchewan Metis during his tenure as provincial leader.

McKay hopes that changes soon and the national council strikes up a solid relationship with local offices.

McKay would also like to see all Metis in Canada get a chance to vote in the next election so that grassroots members have a better chance to be heard.
