A Saskatoon mother will be going to trial for the death of her baby girl — but not for second-degree murder as she was originally charged.

Corrona Shorting was charged in the death of her seven-month-old daughter nearly a year ago.

At the time, police said the autopsy indicated the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Today, the defence and Crown agreed to the charge of manslaughter.

Shorting will be tried by judge and jury in Court of Queen’s Bench once there is available trial time.
