A 22-year-old Pinehouse man accused of fatally stabbing another man from the northern community will stand trial on a reduced charge.

Tyrell Lariviere was originally charged with first-degree murder in the November 1st slaying of the 19-year-old victim.

The victim’s name has never been released at the request of his family.

During a preliminary hearing yesterday in La Ronge, Lariviere was committed to stand trial on a charge of manslaughter.

His trial will take place in Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench at a date that still has to be determined.

He remains in custody.
