With the looming development of the northwest Saskatchewan road link to Alberta’s oilsands, businesses in Buffalo Narrows are teaming up in an effort to unite and promote a stronger voice in the community.

Local business owner and newly-elected president of the Buffalo Narrows Chamber of Commerce Harley Hudson says the goal behind developing the local chamber is to unify the business community prior to the completion of the road link to Fort McMurray.

Hudson says the newly-formed coalition of businesses will begin to focus on tourism-specific initiatives in the near future.

He also says the chamber will be trying to get a better infrastructure of service-based businesses into the community, such as a pharmacy and dentist.

A total of 14 businesses in the northern village are currently registered with the chamber.
