Cell Phone Service Comes to the West Side

It could be another 2 weeks before residents of Beauval enjoy cell phone coverage.

SaskTel first announced the expansion to 4 communities in northwestern Saskatchewan back in July.

It was then announced just before Christmas that the communities would finally be getting cell service in late December.

La Loche, Buffalo Narrows and Ile-a-la-Crosse have since had their towers brought on-line, but SaskTel representative Michelle Englot says technical difficulties have delayed the introduction of cell coverage to Beauval.

Englot can’t say when the next expansion in cell coverage in the North will take place, but notes the 4 communities on the west side that were selected were chosen mainly because of population size.
