It appears construction of the new Dakota Dunes casino on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation near Saskatoon is progressing quicker than expected.

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority says the casino will open to the public on September 6th — almost a month ahead of schedule.

SIGA already operates casinos in Prince Albert, North Battleford, Yorkton and the White Bear First Nation near Carlyle.

The authority is also developing new gaming centres in Swift Current and Yorkton.

Meanwhile, SIGA has announced that interim president and CEO Zane Hansen has officially been handed the role on a permanent basis.
