Carry The Kettle Citizen Awarded Order Of Merit

A member of the Carry the Kettle First Nation has received the province’s highest honour.

Cora Thomson, a long-time volunteer and farmer in the region, is one of seven provincial residents to receive the Order of Merit this year.

The honour goes to individuals who have contributed significantly to the well-being of the province and its residents.

In addition to serving on her band’s TLE committee, Thomson has also volunteered for numerous education, police and social associations.

She encourages First Nations youth everywhere to get out in their communities and immerse themselves in schooling and sports.

Thomson says it was both a surprise and honour for her to have been chosen.
