Life after “Corner Gas” has been busy for Aboriginal actor Lorne Cardinal.

The TV star’s career is going beyond Dog River.

Cardinal stars in a two-man play called “Thunderstick” that opens this weekend in Saskatoon, and he’s hosting the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards in Winnipeg next week.

Cardinal says he’s been getting support from fans everywhere.

“Everywhere I go — and the funny thing is that people actually know my name now. I’m not just ‘Davis’ (his “Corner Gas” character). I’m at least, ‘Oh great — yay, they’re getting over (to) where they know there’s an actor behind that character now.’ And I’m just getting nothing but support, everywhere. People love the show, and they’re wishing me well, and wondering what I’m doing next, and all that kind of stuff. So, it’s great — it’s fantastic,” he says.

Cardinal just finished shooting a pilot for a sitcom called “Wolf Canyon”.

He says he hopes the show will be picked up on different networks.

It airs Dec. 25 on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN).
