The chief of a northwest Saskatchewan First Nation has been named Jeremy Harrison’s campaign manager.

Harrison is running for the Saskatchewan Party in Meadow Lake.

Lariviere says he supports Harrison because of his work for Aboriginal people, and in particular, First Nations war veterans.

He acknowledges Harrison took a lot of heat from First Nations leaders for comments he made after losing to Gary Merasty in the last federal election — but Lariviere says that’s all in the past.

Lariviere adds he’s tired of the NDP’s attitude towards First Nations affairs, contending they routinely deal with problems through social programs as opposed to economic development.
