Canada Post Waiting for Community Response

A spokesman for Canada post says there is a very real possibility that residents of Grandmother’s Bay could have postal service if they want it.

Brian Garrigan says all the Crown corporation needs is a written request from a duly-elected official in the community to get the ball rolling.

He adds many different service options are available, but Canada Post needs a formal letter first.

Garrigan adds Canada Post won’t get into a “he said, she said” debate with Churchill River MP Jeremy Harrison about why regular service doesn’t exist in the community.

Harrison made the situation public in the last week.

Garrigan says once Canada Post gets a list of resident’s names, the process can begin.
