Cameco officials say they “no longer anticipate production in 2011” for the flooded Cigar Lake uranium operation in northern Saskatchewan.

According to the company’s most recent financial update, new estimates on the planned production date will be provided once the mine has been dewatered, its condition has been evaluated and a new mining plan is developed.

CEO Jerry Grandey says Cameco employees have identified the source of the water coming into the Cigar Lake operation.

That problem was encountered last August.

Cameco officials have also been assured that an original inflow area has been effectively sealed.

Work to seal the new inflow area is underway.

Grandey expects that work to consume most of the year.
