Cameco is putting 1.5 million dollars into improving Aboriginal health in Saskatchewan.

It’s part of the Royal University Hospital’s 15-million-dollar Royal Care Campaign.

Cameco’s donation is the first and will be used to create Canada’s first Chair in Aboriginal Medicine.

The endowment fund is aimed at attracting and retaining leading medical professionals to work in a new division of Aboriginal health at the hospital.

Royal University Hospital Foundation director Adrienne Nolan says the hospital’s Aboriginal medicine division will be one of the first of its kind in the world.

Nolan says it still has to be determined which areas of Aboriginal health will be studied.
