Call Made For Hall Lake RCMP Detachment

A band councillor on the Hall Lake reserve feels his community would greatly benefit from a more visible RCMP presence.
Leonard Halkett says he held talks recently with Saskatchewan Justice Minister Frank Quennell about the possibility of having two police officers stationed in Hall Lake on a full-time basis.
There is currently no detachment in Hall Lake. The community is serviced by the RCMP in La Ronge.
Halkett says vandalism is up in Hall Lake, and some youth are also bringing alcohol onto the reserve — something that is against the rules.
Halkett says he hopes to receive an answer from Quennell
sometime soon.
He also hopes Quennell takes into account Hall Lake’s booming population, which is now close to 500 people.
