Bus Service to Northwest Delayed Until The Fall

A plan to bring bus service to several remote communities in northwest Saskatchewan has been delayed.

Due to the recent change in government, the Saskatchewan Transportation Company says it had to re-present its plan to bring service to La Loche and surrounding communities — which means that service will not be available until late this year, rather than this spring.

STC spokesman Dean Madsen says that there was never a point where the new government was thinking of scrapping the idea.

The bus will connect northwest communities to Prince Albert.

Madsen says the company is still looking for a business to house the depot, and a private operator to run the service.
