The incumbent chief of the Buffalo River Dene Nation was re-elected in the band’s election yesterday.

Louie Chanalquay will serve another two-year term after defeating challenger Elmer Campbell — the former chief Chanalquay unseated in the band’s 2005 election.

Two incumbent councillors were also re-elected. Freddy Billette and Rusty Sylvestre will work with three new faces on council — Jesse Sylvestre, Gordon Billette, and Arnold “Trudeau” Chanalquay.
