Buffalo Narrows Council Rejects Moratorium Idea

Despite the objections of a number of residents, the village council in Buffalo Narrows has decided against putting a two-year moratorium on lot development.

A motion calling for the moratorium was passed at a recent public meeting attended by over 100 local residents.

They felt the village should give itself more time to determine what to do with lot development after the impact of the proposed link to Fort McMurray could be gauged.

But the Buffalo Narrows council voted against the idea last night.

Mayor Bobby Woods says he and the council are of the opinion that such a measure would rob the community of many opportunities the new highway might bring.

Woods says the council has decided to set aside a few lots for locals who might be in a better financial situation to buy them down the road.
