Bringing Bus Service to Northwest Still on Hold

An official with the Saskatchewan Transportation Company says bus service won’t likely be coming to northwest Saskatchewan anytime soon.

John Miller says staff from his office were sent up north earlier this year to talk about the idea with business leaders and community members.

However, when it was all said and done, he says they determined the notion simply wasn’t feasible.

However, Miller does say his department has approached New North to do its own feasibility study into the idea and present a business case.

Miller adds the development of a road from La Loche to Fort McMurray could make the service financially possible.

However, at this stage, he says it’s impossible to know for sure.
