Boil Water Advisory For La Ronge Ended

A Saskatchewan Environment official says the precautionary drinking water advisory in La Ronge was necessary — even though tests on the water turned out OK.

Local residents had been told to boil their water since last Tuesday until the advisory was lifted late yesterday.

Jason Tokarchuk says the turbidity — or cloudiness — of the water that triggered this action was caused by a filter problem at the town’s water treatment plant.

While he sympathizes with residents who were incovenienced over the past week-and-a-half, he says environment officals couldn’t risk not warning the public.

Tokarchuk says La Ronge waterworks employees eventually discovered that levels of certain chemicals needed to be adjusted.
