The RCMP have identified a body found in a slough north of Lloydminster yesterday.

The Mounties say 48-year-old Jeanette Jean Chief had been living with relatives on the Onion Lake First Nation.

Her body was discovered just east of Hillmond Road at about 6:20 yesterday morning.

A local resident reported seeing what he believed to be a human body under a bridge.

The body was eventually recovered from the slough that afternoon.

The cause of Chief’s death remains under investigation.

The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit from Saskatoon has been called in to help investigate.
