Human remains have been discovered at the scene of a house fire on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

The RCMP believe they are the remains of a 42-year-old male resident of the home who has been missing since yesterday morning’s blaze.

More tests will be done to confirm the identity of the victim, and the Mounties say the man’s name will not be released before then.

Another man escaped the flames.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the RCMP don’t believe it was suspicious in nature.
