The RCMP is investigating a collision between two motorized boats on Waterhen Lake.

The mishap took place at about 1:40 Saturday afternoon and sent 3 people to hospital.

According to the Mounties, the collision involved a 16-foot-boat towing a tube and a 12-foot fishing boat.

The larger boat was in the process of making a turn to pick up a tuber that had fallen off when it struck the smaller vessel about 300 metres from shore.

The smaller boat capsized, throwing all 3 occupants into the water.

They were pulled from the lake by the occupants of the larger boat and another boat that responded to the accident from a nearby boat launch.

The accident victims were then taken to the Meadow Lake hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The RCMP says alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

Saskatchewan Environment and the Transport Canada Office of Boating Safety are assisting in the investigation.
