About 200 people met in Ile-a-la-Crosse over the weekend to discuss the latest efforts to get the community’s boarding school included in the residential school settlement agreement.
Organizer Don Favel says the attendees agreed on a couple of measures.
First, all survivors will register with the Merchant Law Group, which has launched a class-action lawsuit on behalf of survivors.
Secondly, Favel says they want to track down new Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River MP Rob Clarke, and give him 90 days to try to change the Conservative government’s mind on this issue.
Favel says he hopes that by enlisting the Tory MP’s help, the former students may be able to slip by the court process altogether.
