Black Lake Residents Voting over Election Act
Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 14:23
Members of the Black Lake First Nation will vote on a series of amendments to the band’s election act today.
According to officials overseeing the process, a 50 per cent plus one majority is all that is needed for the act to be ratified.
If that happens, a meeting will be held immediately afterwards where a chief electoral officer and an appeal board will be selected.
Off-reserve members of the band voted earlier this week in Prince Albert.
On-reserve members can cast their ballot today at the Louis Mercredi Community Hall.
About one thousand band members are eligible to vote.
