Birch Narrows Getting Set to Open Fishing Camp

The economic development officer for the Birch Narrows Dene Nation says his community has big plans for its area, once the Garson Lake road project is complete.

Eric Sylvestre says work is already underway on a fishing lodge near the reserve, to get it ready for this year’s tourist season.

Sylvestre expects these and other services to be widely used once residents in Fort McMurray and other Alberta locales have the ability to drive over.

The fishing lodge at Birch Narrows is just one of the business named in a recent memorandum of understanding signed between the province and FSIN as outlets needing to be promoted.

The signing of that MOU took place earlier today.
