Big Island Lake Residents Involved In Fatal Crash

A weekend crash involving several members of the Big Island Lake Cree Nation claimed the life of an 89-year-old man from Pierceland.

The victim has been identified as Frank Lavaillant.

He was the driver and lone occupant of southbound car that collided head-on with a northbound pick-up truck early Saturday evening just north of Pierceland.

Four people from Big Island Lake in the pickup were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries, including the 20-year-old male driver.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
