Over 1,000 Metis citizens are expected to descend on Prince Albert this weekend for the start of that city’s annual Metis Fall Festival.

Organizer Kevin Souter says visitors come from as far away as Manitoba, Alberta and North Dakota for the annual celebration of Metis heritage and pride.

He notes this is the 11th year Prince Albert has hosted the event, and many people look forward to rekindling old relationships.

The event kicks off Friday with several jigging and square dancing events.

A talent show and concert will also be held.

The festivities wrap up Sunday at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre.
