Belanger Says Bus Tour Will Lead To Policy Shifts

Saskatchewan’s Northern Affairs minister says the premier’s bus tour to the North will pay dividends for northern residents.
Buckley Belanger says the premier not only heard a lot of concerns from northerners on the west side last week — but in the case of the roads issue — he experienced them first-hand.
Belanger says no longer will he and cabinet colleague Joan Beatty be the lone voices at the table when it comes time for the government to discuss what to do about improving northern highways.
Having said that, Belanger says there won’t be a policy shift in terms of how the province is dealing with the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan.
Belanger says while Calvert accepted a Metis sash from an MNS sympathizer in Buffalo Narrows last week, it doesn’t mean the government is abandoning its convictions that last year’s Metis election was held unfairly.
Calvert continues his bus tour of the North tomorrow, and will visit several communities in the northeast over the next few days.
