Belanger Not Too Worried About Irregularities

A provincial cabinet minister from the North wants to reassure northerners that civil servant misspending is not rampant.

The NDP government recently released a list of all known cases of misappropriated funds within government departments over the last three years.

Of the over 40 cases identified, four of them involve former government employees that were situated in the North.

But Community Resources Minister Buckley Belanger says the government is on top of the matter, and the abuse is not widespread.

Belanger adds the vast majority of civil servants are honest, hard-working people.
