Belanger, Beatty Clarify Future In Politics

The two NDP cabinet ministers from northern Saskatchewan say they both intend to run in the next provincial election.

Highways and Transportation Minister Buckley Belanger and Northern Affairs Minister Joan Beatty have seen several of their peers in the NDP caucus announce plans to withdraw from politics in recent weeks.

Many of those announcements have come on the heels of polling results that show the NDP well behind the Saskatchewan Party in popular opinion.

But Beatty is convinced the NDP can still win the next election, noting she made the decision to seek re-election a while ago.

Belanger says the NDP is not about to throw in the towel.
