It might be another sign that a provincial election is just around the corner.

Northern Affairs minister Buckley Belanger is in Pinehouse today to announce that the provincial government will come through with 250-thousand dollars in funding to go towards a community hockey arena.

Pinehouse is the hometown of the Saskatchewan Party candidate for the Athabasca riding, Greg Ross.

Pinehouse is also the only major northern Saskatchewan community without an indoor rink.

The community has been actively raising funds for the project for the past several years. As part of the funding arrangement with the province, the community has to contribute 125-thousand dollars to the new arena.
