Beatty Pushes Green Team Program in North

Cumberland MLA and provincial Youth minister Joan Beatty is encouraging young people in the North to apply for summer employment under the province’s new Green Team initiative.

The program invites employers to hire high school and university students for environment-related work.

If the work qualifies, the government pays a portion of the student’s wage.

Beatty says this program is a natural fit for young people from the North.

Beatty says a mining company from the North is among the early applicants for the government subsidy, and wants to make it clear to northern organizations that they don’t have to be an environmental firm to qualify for funding.
