Liberal Party hopeful Joan Beatty says she’s disappointed Ile-a-la-Crosse won’t be allowed to host balloting in the upcoming nomination in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River.

The Deschambault Lake resident says she pushed hard for the northern village community to be included, but the party chose otherwise.

The mayor of Ile-a-la-Crosse and Beatty’s opponent, David Orchard, voiced their disapproval over the decision earlier this week.

Beatty agrees with their reaction — saying party members stand to lose out.

The party selected 10 communities to host polling stations, including one outside the riding — Prince Albert.

Party brass say they decided to go with communities that had 60 or more members.

Prince Albert was selected because of the city’s popularity with northerners.

Liberal Party members in the northern Saskatchewan riding go to the polls on August 14th.
