A sentence of 15 months in custody has been handed to a 16-year-old boy that was behind the wheel in a fatal rollover on the Beardy’s/Okemasis reserve earlier this year.
The teen has also been banned from driving for the next 10 years.
He was drunk when he stole a minivan with 11 children in it, and drove the vehicle in a reckless manner before it rolled in a ditch near the reserve school in the early morning hours of June 17th.
Earlier this year, the teen pleaded guilty to two counts of impaired driving causing death and three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
A 17-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl were killed in the mishap, while another seven young people aged 10 to 18 were hospitalized with various injuries.
