Two Saskatchewan reserves are in the top 10 high-performing First Nations communities in Canada, according to the Frontier Centre for Public Policy’s Aboriginal Governance Index.
It measures how fair and impartial elections are; how effectively band’s administration is; how much regard there is for basic rights; how transparent government is; and how well the band’s economy is doing.
Beardy’s and Okemasis was rated 4th, and Muskoday was rated 10th.
The O’Chiese First Nation from Alberta claimed top spot.
The results are from 98 surveyed First Nations.
