Beardy’s Gearing Up For Band Elections

Six people are hoping to be chief of the Beardy’s/Okemasis First Nation.

 

The band goes to the polls on Thursday.

 

Incumbent chief Garry Littlepine is being challenged by Ernie Cameron, Rick Gamble, Ross Gardypie, Warren Seeseequasis and Sheila Sutherland.

 

Five people are attempting to hang onto their seats on the band council.

 

A total of 38 candidates are vying for the eight available positions.

 

All the winners will serve two-year terms in office.
