Battlefords RCMP Don’t Want Day Of Action Protests

Battlefords RCMP have a plan in place in case there’s another blockade of the Battlefords bridges during tomorrow’s National Day of Action.
But they won’t say exactly what that plan involves.
The Day of Action has been called to help eradicate poverty among First Nations.
Two years ago, a blockade of the bridges by private First Nations citizens created a long string of tied-up traffic, angered motorists and led to charges in Provincial Court.
Staff Sgt. Ron Link says all that did is anger people — and it didn’t make them sympathetic to First Nations issues.
Link says it would be in the best interest of First Nations not to block the bridges.
FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph has called for peaceful protests.
