BATC Eyes Involvement In Multiplex Project

By the end of March, a $42 million multi-purpose recreational facility proposed for the Battlefords and area could have a major donor and partner: the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Community Development Corporation.

That’s the word from the CDC’s chair, Neil Sasakamoose.

So far, only the City of North Battleford and the provincial government have publicly announced their commitments — $10 million from the city and $7 million from the province.

Sasakamoose says CDC board members have to first be sure that the deal is right for First Nations.

He says the CDC is currently waiting for the City of North Battleford to provide a report outlining how the facility will work, how they see First Nations being involved, and what First Nations people will get out of it.

If the BATC CDC does help fund it, Sasakamoose says it would be nice to buy the naming rights.
