The Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs is responding to a charge issued earlier by the rival Battlefords Tribal Council.

Last week, the BTC said the BATC should undergo detailed audits to show where profits from the Gold Eagle Casino have ended up, like the BTC says it did when it was receiving those funds.

But according to Neil Sasakamoose, the chair of the BATC Community Development Corporation, his group does undergo detailed audits.

The BTC also accused the BATC of breaking a Gaming Funding Framework rule by sending funds as far away as the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council.

But Sasakamoose says the FHQTC is part of its area of responsibility — so he maintains it is not breaking any rules by sending it money.

Sasakamoose adds the FSIN determines which CDCs the tribal councils receive money from.

BTC has also alleged that a report on how $50,000 was spent for last year’s Saskatchewan First Nations Summer Games has not yet been provided.

Sasakamoose declined to comment on that allegation, except to say the money was provided by the BTC Community Development Corporation, not the BATC CDC.
