Questions on how to create effective land use plans were fielded yesterday on the final day of the Prince Albert Grand Council’s economic development conference.

J.P. Gladu of the Canadian Boreal Initiative gave the presentation.

Gladu says land use plans often help bands hammer out proper deals with outside companies.

He says they get First Nations thinking about what is really important to them before it’s time to negotiate resource agreements.

Gladu notes the Innu people of Labrador just finished rolling out a land use plan that he says will protect them down the road.
