An unidentified official from within the Lac La Ronge Indian Band says if it wasn’t for its recent agreement with SaskEnergy, the natural gas campaign in La Ronge, Air Ronge and Weyakwin would have failed.
The source said in an email to MBC this morning that the band recently committed to have natural gas hooked up to over 500 on-reserve homes and 26 buildings and businesses — which made it possible for the goal set by SaskEnergy to be reached.
SaskEnergy officials confirmed yesterday the success of the their drive to bring natural gas to the northern communities.
An official announcement will be made in La Ronge on March 8th.
