A northern Saskatchewan First Nation recognized the need to invest for its future.

That’s according to Tron Power president Jim Elliott.

The company is owned by the English River First Nation, and was recently recognized in a nation-wide report highlighting successful Aboriginal businesses.

Elliott says the band’s wisdom and foresight has helped the community adapt to a new way of life.

He says band leaders saw that the traditional way of life in the north, including trapping and fishing, was “going away” — and that’s why they bought the company.

Cameco is congratulating the company for the national recognition.
