A health official with the Big River First Nation says her band is bracing itself for the departure of its two local doctors.
The husband and wife team that had been acting as physicians for the community of Big River have announced they are leaving on July 29th.
Lorette Dreaver of the Big River band says most of the 2,900 band members there depend on the doctors for their health services.
She says if no other replacements are found, band members will have to travel to Shellbrook.
Dreaver has written a letter to the two doctors imploring them to stay.
She also has a meeting scheduled with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Authority tomorrow morning.
