The late Constable Robin Cameron will be honoured today and tomorrow on the Beardy’s/Okemasis First Nation.

A community feast is set for this afternoon.

A memorial service will take place tomorrow, at which time the band will rename its school in memory of the slain RCMP officer and mother.

Cameron was one of two Mounties gunned down last July near Mildred.

Cameron’s uncle, Derek Cameron, says the whole family is grateful to the many band members and outsiders who have supported them over the past year.

He says organizers began planning this week’s events shortly after she was laid to rest 11 months ago.

He hopes the ceremonies will both honour his late niece and provide healing for the family.
