Band Election Appeals Dismissed

A number of appeals into the recent Lac La Ronge Indian Band election have been dismissed.

Six written appeals were filed before the deadline, but appeals officer Gary Littlepine has decided that only three of them will be heard in a hearing.

Littlepine has ruled that two appeals from Little Red and one from La Ronge are not valid because they dealt with political questions and not concerns about the election process.

The appeals filed from Grandmother’s Bay and Hall Lake will be heard next Wednesday and Thursday in Prince Albert.

Details of the appeals are not being made public at this time.

The appeals have forced the postponement of all band council meetings.
