Elders from First Nations within the Prince Albert Grand Council will hold a major gathering this week.
The Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre is hosting the event, which is in its fourth year.
Awards will be handed out to elders in several categories including volunteerism, community involvement and bravery.
Coordinator Corinne Fiddler says the purpose of the event is to highlights the various accomplishments these men and women have brought to their communities.
She notes PAGC Grand Chief Ron Michel thought the elders needed to be recognized for their hard work while they are still alive.
She says as many as 200 people are expected to come for the gathering, which begins tomorrow.
