Attempted Murder Suspect Identified

Montreal Lake is the scene today of a court appearance for a local man charged with attempted murder.

35-year-old Gary Ballantyne made his first appearance in court yesterday in Prince Albert.

Ballantyne is also facing charges of assault and pointing a firearm.

The RCMP say a 22-year-old woman was the target of the alleged assault early Tuesday morning, but didn’t suffer any injuries.

The Mounties say Ballantyne turned himself into police after a man armed with a rifle eluded officers Tuesday morning by running into a nearby wooded area.
