The man who will oppose Athabasca MLA Buckley Belanger in the next provincial election says there is little in the NDP’s latest budget for northerners.

Phil Elliot says most of the money is directed towards cities, and adds the NDP is clearly trying to woo urban voters.

Elliot says little in the government’s financial plan is directed at people in his area of La Loche.

He says many constituents would have liked to have seen money for training programs spent in areas like oil and uranium mining to help entice youth in the area to stick around.

He also believes the money allocated to the cities would have been better spent fast-tracking road projects to Fort McMurray and the Far North.
