Alleged Bear Spray Attacker Remains In Custody

A Buffalo Narrows man charged with assaulting three men with bear spray will remain behind bars until his bail hearing tomorrow.

36-year-old Darren Desjarlais was remanded into custody following his first appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court earlier this week.

Desjarlais is facing a number of charges stemming from a weekend incident in Buffalo Narrows, which saw three local men being treated for injuries consistent with being sprayed with bear mace.

Desjarlais is facing similar charges in Beauval.

If he’s found guilty of using bear spray as a weapon, Desjarlais could face up to five years in jail.
