All-Weather Road Talks Resume Tomorrow

Efforts to construct an all-weather road network in the Far North continue tomorrow in Prince Albert.

A meeting is scheduled to take place between the department of Indian Affairs, Saskatchewan Highways and the Athabasca Transportation Planning Committee.

The chairperson for the committee, Glen Strong, says he’s hoping to hear whether or not the provincial government intends to come on board with the project, and whether it will commit to undertaking some of the 40-million-dollar cost associated with it.

Strong adds the project is expected to take around a decade to complete, but the sooner things get started the better.

He is also leery of an impending federal election holding up the process, whenever it is called.
